Women's Chavurah: Walking Tour featuring the Lives of Susan B. Anthony and Frederick Douglas

Saturday, May 11, 2024 3 Iyar 5784

1:30 PM - 3:30 PMRundel Library

We invite you to join us for a 90-minute walking tour led by a staff member of Central Library's Local History & Genealogy Division. This walking tour focuses on Rochester’s rich history of social justice activism. The tour includes sites related to the city’s most famous activists, Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony.  It also delves into other forms of local activism related to the labor, anti-draft, and gay rights movements. We will make multiple stops along the 1.1 mile tour route to learn about the historic significance of various downtown locations. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water!

You can park in either the Court Street Garage or the South Avenue Garage (which usually have a parking fee).  Alternatively, you can look for free on-street parking.

This tour is limited to 36 people.   We will need at least 10 participants to make it a go. The tour is also weather-dependent.  It will take place if there is a light drizzle, but not a steady rain.

And, as always, not just for women!

Please RSVP by May 4th  to Carol Yunker at VPKelly@aol.com.
